Community Outreach

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is Singapore’s university of applied learning. SIT upholds the vision of being a leader in innovative learning by integrating learning, industry and community.

In 2017, more than 300 SIT students were involved in the initiation of various community service projects in collaboration with 17 organisations.

SIT Community Service Club and Rotaract Club were set up in 2013 and 2014 respectively to reach out to different communities with the aim of bringing smiles to all beneficiaries. Since January 2017, they have collaborated with 12 organisations on various projects, benefiting more than 500 elderly, youth and children. These projects included spending a day at the zoo with underprivileged children, litter picking in support of the ‘Keep Singapore Clean’ campaign, as well as collaborating with two other organisations on a household cleaning project.

At SIT, students are given opportunities to embark on Overseas Service-Learning projects to Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. These projects encourage our SITizens to broaden their perspectives on global communities and build their self-confidence and resilience as community leaders.

Through the local and overseas community service projects, students improve the well-being of the people they serve, and gain life skills and knowledge in return. They become ‘catalysts for transformation’ and ‘grounded in the community’, two of the four distinctive traits that SIT aims to cultivate in its students.
