About Course
To provide module participants with in-depth knowledge of the characteristics and models of various types of electrical machines, of the operation and control of these machines as generators and motors, and the ability to design the machines and their control systems.
The importance of rotating electrical machines as energy converters is ever growing, not just in large electric power plants but also in smaller distributed generators driven by gas, hydro and wind turbines. They are also increasingly used for electric propulsion in electric and hybrid-electric vehicles and marine vessels, besides electric railways.
The topics are grouped into three areas:
- Modelling and analysis of electrical machines
- Design of electrical machines
- Control systems for electrical machines as motors and generators
Who Should Attend
Prerequisites
- Bachelor degree in Engineering
- At least one-year of relevant working experience
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:
- Analyse Cyber Security Threats in Smart Grids - Identify and evaluate attack vectors, threat motivations, vulnerabilities, and privacy risks associated with smart grid and industrial control system environments
- Apply Cyber Security Frameworks and Standards - Interpret and apply relevant smart grid and ICS security standards and frameworks including NISTIR 7628, IEEE 2030, IEEE 1547, ISA‑62443, EU M/490, and SGCG
