Programme Overview

The Master of Engineering Technology in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Land) is a 60-credit postgraduate programme for working professionals who are seeking to be a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and/or Professional Engineer (PE). This programme is a mandatory requirement to be eligible for consideration for CEng and PE (Mechanical) in Singapore and UK.

This programme is tailored for working professionals. Classes are conducted on weekday evenings.

Programme Educational Objectives
 
Graduates of the Master of Engineering Technology (MEngTech) programme, after working for 5 years, are expected to be: 

  1.  Competent in solving complex problems in land transport engineering through the application of critical thinking and relevant up-to-date technical skills and knowledge.   
  2. Able to embrace challenges and opportunities by adapting to changes in technological and business environment through lifelong professional development.
  3. Able to communicate effectively, act with integrity, and have the interpersonal skills to lead and nurture teams resulting in transformative outcomes.
  4. Able to serve the community with due consideration of health and safety, societal, and environmental aspects.

Programme Highlights

The programme specialises in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering (Land) with emphasis on Railway Engineering and Total Preventative Maintenance.

Accreditation

The provisional accreditation has been awarded by Engineering Accreditation Board for the Master of Engineering Technology (MEngTech) with Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering – Land (SIE-Land) programme. The full accreditation exercise is expected in 2020.

Eligibility

Applicants must possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • At least one year of working experience in a related field*

*Participation in the Integrated Work Study Programme can be accepted as relevant work experience for the first batch of graduates from the SIE (Land) programme.

The first intake has commenced in January 2018 with the inaugural batch of graduates from the SIE (Land) programme.

1 The above Postgraduate Programme Fees are for AY2019/20. They are not fixed throughout the student’s entire candidature and are subject to yearly review and revision.
2 The fees for International Students and Non-Subsidised fees are inclusive of 7% GST, with the exception of credit-rate fees (where GST is not indicated, but will be included in the fees billing).
3 The subsidised fees for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents shown are without GST, as GST on tuition fees will be subsidised by Ministry of Education.
4 MOE will only subsidise students who hold the relevant Bachelor qualifications that are accepted by the Professional Engineers Board together with the MEngTech for the purpose of registering as a Professional Engineer (PE). Inaddition, students must not have previously attained a masters or higher qualification through government subsidy or sponsorships.

Students are required to complete 8 coursework modules and a 12-credit Capstone project, amounting to a total of 60 credits.
