National Environment and Water (NEW) Scholarship

The National Environment and Water (NEW) Scholarship is an open public scholarship (overseas & local) with a focus in the environment and water sectors. To ensure environmental sustainability, National Environment Agency (NEA) and PUB the national water agency, led by the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR), have jointly launched the NEW Scholarship in late July 2008. NEW Scholars will have the opportunity to join either NEA or PUB upon completion of studies.

About NEA 

NEA is a leading public organisation responsible for improving and sustaining a clean and green environment in Singapore. NEA develops and spearheads environmental initiatives and programmes through its partnership with the People, Public and Private sectors. It is committed to motivate every individual to take up environmental ownership and to take care of the environment as a way of life. By protecting Singapore's resources from pollution, maintaining high level of public health and providing timely meteorological information, the NEA endeavours to ensure sustainable development and a quality living environment for present and future generations.

About PUB

PUB is the national water agency that manages Singapore's water supply, water catchment and sewerage in an integrated way. PUB was named the Water Agency of the Year at the Global Water Awards 2006. PUB also won the Stockholm Industry Water Awards 2007. PUB constantly has the future in mind. With a unique 'Four National Taps' strategy consisting of local catchment water, imported water (Johore), NEWater and desalinated water, PUB has ensured a diversified and sustainable supply of water for now and generations to come. PUB manages the entire water loop to ensure an efficient, adequate and sustainable supply of water.

Eligibility

  • Outstanding academic results and a noteworthy CCA record

  • Singaporean/Singapore Permanent Resident.(Note: For Permanent Resident, confirmation of award will be based on the successful application for Singapore Citizenship)

  • Applicants should not be in receipt of any other scholarship, bursary or grant from any organization

Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition and compulsory fees

  • Maintenance Allowance

  • Overseas Immersion Programme – Programme fee, airfare, accommodation, student visa fee, allowance and any other compulsory fees

  • Scholars may request for sponsorship for enrichment/exchange/ postgraduate studies

Obligations

Upon graduation, the scholar will serve a 4 year bond with the agency which awarded the scholar with the scholarship (either NEA or PUB)

Mid-Term Scholarship
