Introduction

Funding TIE

SIT strives to forge a close relationship with the industry and community via applied research project collaborations. Our dedicated Applied Research, Innovation & Enterprise (ARIE) division  works closely with our technology experts to support companies in advancing the development of their innovative products and services.

The SIT Grant Framework provides support to both companies and faculty, when both parties embark on industry collaborations, tapping on both internal and/or external grants to support our involvement in industry or community projects.

The internal grant framework supports test-bedding of ideas, and provides early-stage funding for industry projects that involve faculty and students.

Under the internal grant framework, there are two internal grants – Seed Funding and Ignition Grant, which provide different levels of support.

For Seed Funding, it allows faculty to test ideas, jumpstart projects, and demonstrate its capability to the industry at the stage of prototype and concept development.

For Ignition Grant, collaborators could work with our faculty to address industry-specific challenges, and co-fund the Proof-of-Concept projects.

ARIE will also assist faculty to develop grant proposals with collaborators, so as to bid for external grants from agencies, such as National Research Foundation, National Medical Research Council, and Ministry of Education. Collaborators are welcome to work with our faculty on project proposals that provides customised solutions for industry-specific challenges.
