Agnes Xue, PhD

A/P Agnes Xue is a Red-Dot and A’Prime Design award-winner and the first Industrial Designer in Singapore to be awarded the Doctoral of Philosophy (PhD) qualification from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Prior to her role as Head of Design Factory, she was Programme Director of the SIT-Glasgow School of Art Design programmes, but more known for teaching non-designers design. During her time outside of the university, she has invested and started two design consultancies.

Dr Choo Jian Huei

A/P Choo Jian Huei, Deputy Head of Design Factory at SIT, is a Mechanical Engineer by training, and a tribologist at heart. Although he wears an engineer’s viewing glass, he strongly believes that design thinking can be applied to any discipline, bringing people of various backgrounds together to challenge current assumptions of how people interact with products and to critically evaluate the ability of current products and services to serve the needs of people.

Jeffrey Koh, PhD

Dr Jeffrey Koh has spent most of his life so far in Toronto, Canada but has managed to live, work and study in Sydney, Zurich, London, Rotterdam, Berlin, Seoul, Singapore and Tokyo. He is a transdisciplinary experiential designer who has worked on catwalk and fashion show designs for PRADA, advertising and gallery curation for KesselsKramer, and architecture and exhibition design for the Office for Metropolitan Architecture / Rem Koolhaas.

Dr Koh earned his PhD at the National University of Singapore and was a visiting research scholar at Keio University in Japan, where his research interests focused on various topics regarding HCI, HRI, interactivity and transdisciplinary experimental creative practice. Previously he was the UX Lead at the National Gallery Singapore, Peer of the Australia Council for the Arts, faculty Lecturer at UNSW, and Vice President of Transmedia at Villains. Currently, he is the Director of Strategic Ventures and a Partner at Chemistry, Co-Founder of the Blockchain and Circular Economy startup Orobo.io, and runs the FUPM.org Cardano stake pool as a stake pool operator.

Tan Eng Lee, PhD

Industry Advisor
Head, Business and Industry Development, A*STAR

Dr Tan Eng Lee graduated with his PhD in Biomedical Science from National University of Singapore in 2008. Dr Tan’s focus areas include diagnostics development, using omics to unravel pathogen-host interactions and biomarkers discovery. He has vast experience in multiple roles, spanning from academia to industry. Currently, Dr Tan is the Head of Business & Industry Development (BID), at the A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs, one of A*STAR’s newest Research Institute. He is well-versed with the research ecosystem and have strong networks with academic, clinical and industry partners.

This has enabled him to further the use of various tools and technologies for pathogens identification (diagnostics), vaccine monitoring, understanding the host-pathogen pathogenesis and immunity responses as well as disease surveillance. Dr Tan is also the founding advisor for Pathomics Health Group, a company who focus on providing precision and digital healthcare solutions. He led the creation of next-generation predictive digital health engagement platform that delivers effective, evidence-based interventions to empower people with happier and healthier lives. Clinically validated, its predictive and precision profile scoring on individual risk factors, showing how small individual lifestyle or dietary changes can make a real difference in improving better lifelong health outcome. Recently, Dr Tan was invited as scientific advisor for SingViva, an insuretech company which focus on developing insurance products using predictive genomics risk scoring, first of its kind in the market.

Matthew Lim

Creative Technologist, Design Factory

Matte Lim is a multidisciplinary designer, and educator interested in humanistic technology. He graduated from one of the best design and art universities in the world, the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and helped set up the Maker and Design program at Hwa Chong Institution. The products and experiences he designed have been exhibited both locally and internationally.

Loh Zhide

Creative Technologist, Design Factory

Zhide Loh is an Industrial Designer by training and a Creative Technologist at heart. Prior to joining SIT, he was working in GovTech and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital’s innovation departments. He has experience building prototypes ranging from products to interactive art that has been exhibited in Venice and Dubai amongst others.
