What is the workshop about?

Before you can use equipment and machines, or attempt practical work in The Catalyst, you must understand safety rules and proper ways to use the high-speed equipment at The Catalyst. These will help keep you and others safe in the makerspace.

In this workshop, you will learn the proper ways to handle the high-speed equipment in The Catalyst.

Course Outline

Learn safe and proper ways to operate high-speed equipment such as:

  • Belt and Disc Sander
  • Bench Drill Press
  • Bench Grinder
  • Electrical Power Drill
  • Electrical Variable Speed Jigsaw
  • Scroll Saw
  • Variable Speed Angle Grinder

Suitable For

Students or staff who are keen to work on projects which require usage of high-speed equipment at The Catalyst.

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Positive attitude to acquire skills in making prototypes.

Mode of Assessment

Participants are required to complete a hands-on project by the end of the workshop.
