What is the workshop about?

Before you can use equipment and machines, or attempt practical work in The Catalyst, you must understand basic safety rules and proper ways to use the tools.  Basic safety rules will help keep you and others safe in the makerspace.

In this workshop, you will learn the proper ways to handle basic hand tools in The Catalyst.

Course Outline

Get hands-on practice on the following tools:

  • Battery-operated Drill
  • Hand tools
  • Hot Air Gun
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Plastic Bending Machine
  • Screwdriver

 

Suitable For

Students or staff keen to work on simple projects which require usage of basic hand tools in The Catalyst.

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Positive attitude to acquire skills in making prototypes.

Mode of Assessment

Participants are required to complete a hands-on project by the end of the workshop.

Successful participants will receive an exclusive, specially-customised Lab Coat for The Catalyst (Makerspace).
