This module has an updated learning pathway that can now be stacked towards a Graduate Certificate in Process Safety Operations.

It is important to be able to identify and analyse potential hazards in order to effectively manage, control and mitigate the risks of processing, storing and transporting hazardous materials.

In this 2-day workshop on Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), learners will learn to apply hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and what-if/checklist techniques when conducting process hazard analyses at major hazard installations (MHIs).

The workshop utilises interactive, real-world case studies to help learners gain insight into best practices in implementing a HAZOP study. By the end of the workshop, learners will be able to identify potential hazards that extend beyond the safe design operating envelope, assess their impact on both the facility and surrounding areas, and identify the necessary safeguards to prevent or mitigate the consequences. Additionally, they will gain skills to plan, prepare, and facilitate a comprehensive HAZOP study.

Learners are encouraged to bring their own case studies to discuss with the trainers and participants during the workshop's PHA exercises.
