In 1969, The University of Manchester became the first university in England to establish a Nursing degree.

Today, The University of Manchester is regarded as one of the UK's top universities and a world-class academic institution, with 25 Nobel Laureates among its present and former students as well as staff. The University now has 4 faculties, 22 academic schools and hundreds of specialist research groups. 2,750 undergraduate students and 295 postgraduate students currently attend The University of Manchester's School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work.
