Mr Tan Chek Ming is the Deputy President (Operations) of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). He joined SIT from the Ministry of Education (MOE).

Mr Tan Chek Ming was the Asst Managing Director in the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)’s New York office before joining MOE. He led the EDB’s Americas and European Ops (A&E Ops).
Mr Tan has acquired extensive industry and international experience since moving from Singapore Telecom to join EDB in 1986. He served in EDB’s Americas Ops from1989-1996 where he was stationed in Dallas, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Before his appointment to head EDB’s A&E Ops, Mr Tan was Asst Managing Director responsible for EDB’s overall industry development efforts. He was also a pioneer in the development of the education and digital media sectors in EDB.

Besides his service in EDB, Mr Tan was also appointed as the Executive Director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore to create the Financial Sector Promotion Division in 1998.
Mr Tan graduated with a B.Eng (Electrical Engineering) from the National University of Singapore and M.Sc (Management) from MIT’s Sloan School. Mr Tan was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2008.
