Dr Ting Seng Kiong is the Deputy President (Academic) of the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). Prior to this, he was the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) of the College of Engineering at NTU, the founding Director of the Lien Institute for the Environment as well as a member of the Academic Council and an elected member of the University Senate.

Dr Ting’s research interests are in sustainable construction technology and management. He was awarded the SCI Award for Excellence in Concrete research. Over the years he has been involved in 14 research projects either as PI or co-PI and has supervised 44 graduate students. He has authored or co-authored 86 refereed papers of which 26 are in refereed international journals, edited three international conference proceedings and published 60 research and consultancy reports. He has been a consultant or expert witness to more than 50 projects over the last ten years. He has one patent to his name.

He is a Singapore registered professional engineer (PE) with experiences in design, site construction and management as well as project development and execution.

He received his B Eng (1st Class Honours) in Civil Engineering from Monash University, Australia under the President’s and the Colombo Plan scholarships. He obtained his M Eng from National University of Singapore before he went to Massachusetts Institute of Technology for his SMCE and ScD (Structural Engineering) under the NUS Overseas Graduate scholarship. Dr Ting is a Singaporean and served his national service in the SAF and the SPF.
